Grace, BHAM Now: This is Grace with BHAM Now, and we're here with Dr. Swicord from Smile Craft in Homewood.

Dr. Christopher Swicord, Smile Craft Dentistry: Yeah, it's great to see you, Grace. And I heard that you want to know how to stay healthy and smile confidently.

Grace: That's right. Well, I'll show you how. Follow me. What's the biggest dental myth you hear all the time?

Dr. Swicord: A lot of patients tell me they're afraid of X-rays, and you get more radiation flying on an airplane than you do from a full mouth series.

Grace: Should you brush your teeth before or after breakfast?

Dr. Swicord: After breakfast.

Grace: What's worse for your teeth, acid or sugar?

Dr. Swicord: Acid.

Grace: How often should we really get our teeth cleaned?

Dr. Swicord: Twice a year. Yeah, everyone misses this spot.

Grace: How do you fix bad breath?

Dr. Swicord: Brush your tongue, use mouthwash, and drink water regularly.

Grace: Is it really bad to skip flossing?

Dr. Swicord: Yes. Food gets stuck between your teeth and it doesn't just disappear. You got to floss it out.

Grace: There's one time that I ate three, five wings at one time and I was so hungry. Did you floss after?

Dr. Swicord: Yes, I did. I did floss.

Grace: He flosses. What compliment do you love hearing from patients?

Dr. Swicord: I love it when my patients tell me they barely feel the injection.

Grace: Last question. What makes you smile every day?

Dr. Swicord: My dog Chloe. Shout out to Chloe. Love you, Chloe.

Grace: Cheers to a healthy and confident smile.

Dr. Swicord: Cheers.
